The city of Korolyov

Korolyov is located 6 kilometers of Moscow. It was named after S.P. Korolyov, who worked and lived here. S.P. was chief designer of the  first satellites,  spaceships and the first manned spaceship, on which board Y. Gagarin flew into space.  So, out city is the center of the Russian space exploration and has the title of the "city of science" .  There are some plants of space engineering industry including the Head Plant of Spaceship Corporation "Enegria". There is also MCC (The Mission Control Center) where scientists monitor space missions  and the work of the International Space Station. So, it's natural, that  there are museums of the history of the Russian space exploration  in MCC and  "Energia" and a monument to the first satellite  in Avenue of Cosmonauts and a monument to S.P. Korolyov in Korolyov Avenue.

The site, where the city is located, is famous for picturesque  views and it  was a favourite  place where  a lot of writers, poets and artists liked to come to relax. That's why there is a museum of a famous Russian poetess M. Tsvetaeva.

One more attraction of our city is  the first National Park "Elk Island" which is excellent for walks, skiing and bird watching.  It's also an educational center for those who are interested in the wildlife.
